- STICK Welding Level 2:
Code: C3
Course Description:
Advanced Safety and Health Standards: You will learn about safety precautions when dealing with high power equipment, handling of electrodes, fumes, and gases. PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) usage will also be discussed.
In-depth Electrode Selection: Electrode selection and understanding their different coatings and functions are crucial for advanced stick welding. You will learn how to select the right electrode for the right job depending upon the metal, welding position, and required strength.
Advanced Techniques and Positions: Learning more complex welding positions, like overhead and vertical welding, can be a part of an advanced course. You will also work on mastering different joint types (like tee, lap, edge, and corner joints), and how to handle different electrode angles and travel speeds.
Welding Defects and Distortion Control: Understanding common welding defects, their causes, and how to avoid them or correct them is a key aspect of advanced welding. Techniques to control distortion and warping during welding might also be part of the course.
Remember, welding is very much a hands-on skill, so ensure you’re getting plenty of practical experience in addition to theoretical understanding. This might mean finding a course that offers a workshop or lab component, or supplementing your course with additional practice in your own time.
